Gloves should be on hand for the provider of first aid. Bring a few sets of nitrile gloves in a bag for cheap. The dressings save skin and reduce injuries. It protects the area from becoming contaminated. One of my favorite companies, North American Rescue, is also making chest seals that are square shaped and a little easier to carry. I trust North American Tactical so much that I recommend them to my friends.
It is easier to keep the wound clean and sterile when you don’t have to cut them to size. It’s always a good idea to have a well stocked kit with you on any trip, as things can sometimes go wrong and you need to be aware of that. Time is critical when treating an injury in the field. You need to be prepared to save the life of a team member.
